Inland sea and small beach The inland sea at Dwejra is a relatively small bay surrounded by high cliffs and connected by a 60-metre-long cave that leads you out to the open sea. It's truly a place that evokes awe, and that leaves an impression.

The Inland Sea is a small sea lake connected to the open Mediterranian Sea by a natural cave that forms narrow straight tunnel through the cliffs. The tunnel is wide enough to allow the passage of small boats. It is thought that the Inland Sea started life as a tunnel leading to a colossal sea cave and then the roof of the cave collapsed.

The Inland Sea also boasts a stunning natural phenomenon known as the Blue Hole. This underwater sinkhole is a diver's paradise, offering a glimpse into an underwater world filled with marine life and coral formations. The Blue Hole is connected to the Inland Sea by a narrow underwater tunnel, providing a unique and exhilarating diving.

The Inland Sea Tunnel, along with the Blue Hole and the ruins of the Azure Window, are a favourite diving destination in the Mediterranean. Scuba divers enter the tunnel at the Inland Sea and exit in open sea, or vice versa. This exciting dive is known for its ambiance such as the play of light on walls covered with coral and sponges.

Unfortunately, Gozo's famed Azure Window sea arch crumbled into the sea during a big storm in March 2017, but the surrounding Dwejra Bay coastline is still wildly spectacular. Boat trips exploring the nearby Inland Sea also take in views of the arch underwater in gin-clear Mediterranean waters, while it's also possible to dive in the nearby.

Inland Sea is a shallow semi-circular lagoon of about 60 m wide connected to the Mediterranean Sea by 80 m long Tunnel cave through the rock. There is not much to see for divers in the Inland Sea. In the Inland Sea the maximum depth is around 2m. The bottom of the tunnel gets deeper and deeper.

Inland Sea is a little misleading as this stretch of water is only the size of a small lake. But it is a notable landmark and we were surprised how knowledgeable the local boatman were during a short 15 minute ride through the cave entrance seaward. This is very cheap (a few Euros each) and enhances the visit.

The average depth of the Inland Sea is about 18 meters, reaching in certain places deeper points: from 25 to 60 meters depth. The Inland Sea is really popular among divers. When the weather is good and waters are calm, divers can make a great dive along the tunnel. The underwater canyon is about 80 meters long.. MyMalta - Malta islands.

The Inland Sea dive site is located on the west coast of Gozo, a stone's throw away from the Blue Hole Dive Site. The location of this dive site is very picturesque. Boat houses and high sea cliffs surround a shallow seawater lagoon. This lagoon joins the open sea via an 80 tunnel. Regular boat tours take visitors through the tunnel and out.
